I want to build a real estate website where people can register their own account, upload photo's and fill in information of their own properties that prospective buyers will be able to search for and browse through. I have not been able to find any solution to create a website where users can add their own content. I've heard some things about Drupal but don't know how to use it, and I've heard I need to know PHP. Is there are program or software that I can upload to my site or web host provider (bluehost) to give me this desired feature? It would make business a whole lot easier if my visitors could upload information themselves. Any advice would be appreciated.

I just bought a virtual private server and I had the intention of using it for web hosting solutions... Please I am lost and I dont even know how to go about it's usage.

Well, long story sort of short, i built a program in Visual Basic for my personal use, but to increase the production of the product generated by the program i made the program public, over 1000 users tried running the program to aid me. But, i was currently using an unlimited hosting FTP account, storing the product in text files via FTP but has now proved inpractical, mainly because of the maximum of 2 connections to the FTP server at any one given time and the fact that the web hosting provider was forced to close my FTP account due to an overload in there servers, the program has an output of 2,000,000,000 text files per hour with my aim to have 70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (70 sextillion, aka the number of stars in the sky) of these text files containing the 'product'. I'm new to programming (hence why i'm using Visual Basic), i know of MySQL storage but i'm only 15 and don't have that sort of money to purchase unlimited storage. So my question is, what methods are there of storing data on Visual Basic?My ideal solution would be a method of connecting to one of my laptops / computers and storing the data locally on a hard drive, i have 24 1 TerraByte hard drives so storage of the data wouldn't be a problem for a while.Anyone got any solutions?Thanks in advance, Alex.Thanks for the reply, switching to binary will definitely not help unfortunately, but as for compressing i thought about it, but then like i said im new to programming and i have no clue to how i might go about achieving this.

I literally have an exact template laid out of precisely what I want in terms of a layout. I also have all of my content written. I don’t want a web designer to make everything for me. It’s more like, I already know what I want, and I want somebody to put my ideas into action. Hosting, domain registration, and ecommerce solutions by GoDaddy. Products/services of the site:- A book, which will be available for purchase at another website via a link on my site- Consulting, which is available for purchase on my site. - Name database, which is the most complicated service. Paying members can search for names in the database, or manually browse alphabetically or by popularity. The content isn’t made up yet. Other features of the site:- A blog (I can have this onsite, or link to an outside blogging site)- A page to subscribe to a free e-newsletter- An advice column- Name of the Week- These would require updating quite often (weekly) but if it’s just a content or even an HTML update, I could do it. I don’t need a designer to be doing maintenance for me every week. Overall I plan for it to be between 20 to 30 pages (I counted 22). I have already started designing the page, but I don’t think I have the skills to do it all. I was looking up designers near me and they want $2000 for a 4 page, static, templated page. To me, what I want is not worth that much because I have already designed my own layout of what I want, provided my own content and images, etc, I just want somebody to make it. Apparently the website I made on dreamweaver CS4 can't be hosted on the internet. It works fine and the links work when previewed in any browser on any computer, but when I tried to upload it, a "._" showed before the name of every web file. I used CSS and javascript. The navigation bar is in Javascript. I don't know what's wrong, is there any solution(s)? Thank you

It would be cheaper to go for one server (we're talking about VPS servers here, btw), but there would be about 200 websites on it. I can also opt for a more expensive solution with 2 servers, to spread the load. However, one server alone should be able to handle it - can you think of any benefits to having 2?

Hi,I've recently begun working on a new project. My goal is to have a multi-player flash game where users can join parties with one another and battle together. In addition, the users will be able to chat with each other. I've done a lot of reading on ways to best achieve this, and everything seems to be pointing me towards establishing a socket connection to pass information between the users in real time.The problem with this is, my web host does not allow socket connections (and from what I've gathered looking around, most of them don't). The only way I would be able to use this method is by upgrading to a virtual dedicated server, which would TRIPLE my server costs.I am familiar with AJAX enough to know that this is a possible solution, but the problem I see with this is the latency overhead. I don't want to exhaust excessive amounts of bandwidth "pinging" every second that every player has the application running. That seems a bit.. wasteful to me.Are there any other methods that I could look into? I'm sure this type of thing is done often, but I'm finding it very difficult to find much of... well, anything on the topic. Maybe I'm just not searching for the right thing.Since my web host does not allow socket connections, is it possible for my flash scripts to communicate with a socket on an external host and pass data between clients that way? Or does that not even make sense? Pardon my ignorance on the topic, I've never worked with sockets before and the whole concept is a bit abstract to me.Thanks!
