I want to set up my own film fan website. I'm not dropping the day job but just want to share my passion about a particular type of films with other fans, so it will be a bit of a hobby for me.I was going to do a blog but then saw that having your own website hosted is incredibly cheap. Looking for a web host. Circumstances follow:* The site will be used by for a commercial/retail business.* Professional design/development will not be used. (And so any hosts utilizing rapid-deploy functions would be nice--- but similarly, there are no specific constrains on "optional" technology support)* Ideally the host will have near-100% uptime (but infrequent outages are not the end of the world).* Cost is important. (Shared server is fine/"ideal")* Ideally the host-provider will aid in the transfer of the domain from the current owner to the new owner (and offer domain purchase/renew options integrated with whatever their payment plan is)* No major security problems in recent history.

I need to learn web design as soon as possible to start a small business designing and hosting web pages and email services for local business and other small organizations. I know someone who already does the same thing successfully. Entire web sites are designed with MS Publisher and uploaded to a web hosting reseller, which takes the technical aspects out of everything. I am really serious about doing this, out of both personal interest and necessity. Before I attempt this though I need to know whether I should go the same route as my friend and use WYSIWYG software to design the pages or go the professional route and code by hand. If you do or have done this and have an idea of how many months it will take minimum, to start designing pages for business, please share your thoughts. I've already done some google searches but am looking for some last input from personal experience incase there's anything I've missed.

I have very little experience when it comes to site domains and web building tools.. i currently am considering using godaddy but have never used it and im not signed up with them... i want something that i can use with a flash intro but im not sure of how much memory flash will use.. currently, i don't know how much memory i get with the site im using but i'm paying approx 77 for an entire year's worth of hosting but im not happy with their website building tools.. the templates lack and flash is not one of their tools.. what has been your experience with site hostings? i already own the domain name i just need a good host for a reasonable price.. as far as content, i'd like to have something nice that i can work with, i just don't know how much i'll use and when it'll all go live so just any experiences you have to share, the more, the better.. thanks.
