I'm currently running Fedora 14 and I have everything up and running. The databases are set and so are the users.Now, as many people with a web server do, I'm running it online but the php code used to connect to the database is not connecting.I'm using $con = mysql_connect($host, $user, $pass);mysql_select_db($db, $con);when the browser goes to the page using that, the webpage states that there is an internal server error 500.Why isn't this connecting now? It worked with my windows machine. I have a little linux experience but not a whole lot.I downloaded, burned and installed the newest version of ubuntu server 10.10However, i have looked up several tutorials on how to set this up correctly but none of them are very specific as to why I am typing in the given commands, often causing me to become confused and frustrated when everything doesn't work out.Please help!-steve

I made a small social networking website for a project using ASP.NET and C#. I did not use the ASP.NET server controls and used my coding in C#. The website works fine when I click the Build button in the Visual Studio 2005. It gives fine result in Internet Explorer and Firefox including interactivity with the database. I uploaded it to my own domain at http://ghsstakkar.comThe problem is that when I try to log in, it does not let me log in and gives me the following error message "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer. The connection will be closed."I used the command Website-->Publish to publish the website to the domain. How do I correct this problem to make my website working as it works on my personal computer in Visual Studio 2005.Please test it yourself by going to the http://www.ghsstakkar.com/Login.aspx or the Registration page by entering the username:ajmal1592 and password:ajmalpassThe server is a window server and not a Linux server. I have been given access to Parallels Plesk Panel 9.2.3 for windows. The file manager of the control panel also shows setting for ASP.NET settings. This means that the server is Windows.It seems as there is some other problem. The Visual Studion 2005 uses Express Edition of Microsoft SQL Server and may be there is some problem related to the difference between that and the server on which I am hosting the web application.

I was looking at GODADDY web site and under hosting it just has two options under hosting: LInux and windows. Under MAC hosting the prices are way different, whats the difference?
