Have been using webs.com, but they are no longer able to meet my needs, I have more than 1 website/domian name, with completely seperate sites/products. And have no idea which companies are any good or bad? Would like to be able to control both or even more sites all from 1 account, that does all the hosting, domain registry, website builder for me? HOW DO I USE WORDPRESS TO DEVELOP MY OWN WEBSITE?
Basic concept of site: baby name site. Parents can look up their favorite names, buy a baby name book, seek baby name consulting services, etc.What I already have: I already have my site mapped out. I literally have an exact template laid out of precisely what I want in terms of a layout. I also have all of my content written. I don’t want a web designer to make everything for me. It’s more like, I already know what I want, and I want somebody to put my ideas into action. Hosting, domain registration, and ecommerce solutions by GoDaddy. Products/services of the site:- A book, which will be available for purchase at another website via a link on my site- Consulting, which is available for purchase on my site. - Name database, which is the most complicated service. Paying members can search for names in the database, or manually browse alphabetically or by popularity. The content isn’t made up yet. Other features of the site:- A blog (I can have this onsite, or link to an outside blogging site)- A page to subscribe to a free e-newsletter- An advice column- Name of the Week- These would require updating quite often (weekly) but if it’s just a content or even an HTML update, I could do it. I don’t need a designer to be doing maintenance for me every week. Overall I plan for it to be between 20 to 30 pages (I counted 22). I have already started designing the page, but I don’t think I have the skills to do it all. I was looking up designers near me and they want $2000 for a 4 page, static, templated page. To me, what I want is not worth that much because I have already designed my own layout of what I want, provided my own content and images, etc, I just want somebody to make it. I don’t have a lot of money to spend on graphic design. So, how much should I be looking to spend on something like this? And please don’t say ‘it depends’ because I just spent this whole thing being very specific on what I want.

I made a small social networking website for a project using ASP.NET and C#. I did not use the ASP.NET server controls and used my coding in C#. The website works fine when I click the Build button in the Visual Studio 2005. It gives fine result in Internet Explorer and Firefox including interactivity with the database. I uploaded it to my own domain at http://ghsstakkar.comThe problem is that when I try to log in, it does not let me log in and gives me the following error message "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer. The connection will be closed."I used the command Website-->Publish to publish the website to the domain. How do I correct this problem to make my website working as it works on my personal computer in Visual Studio 2005.Please test it yourself by going to the http://www.ghsstakkar.com/Login.aspx or the Registration page by entering the username:ajmal1592 and password:ajmalpassThe server is a window server and not a Linux server. I have been given access to Parallels Plesk Panel 9.2.3 for windows. The file manager of the control panel also shows setting for ASP.NET settings. This means that the server is Windows.It seems as there is some other problem. The Visual Studion 2005 uses Express Edition of Microsoft SQL Server and may be there is some problem related to the difference between that and the server on which I am hosting the web application.

Just curious about web design, obviously you design the site, but do you cover domain registration and hosting for the client also? If so, when you are done do you just show them how to pay for the domain and hosting space every month/year/etc or do you go back and update it for them, or how does the "getting the site online" legal things work? Also what price ranges should one be expected to pay for a site similar to, say, a basic home business site with online purchasing (shopping cart) options and up to 10 pages? I have hosted my website in a free webhosting site. (ie. 6te.net). I have registered a domain from another website (it is a paid web domain, www.indianguitarhero.in). And i have activated the Domain Forwarding option for the domain so that when a user enters into "www.indianguitarhero.in", it will automatically redirect to "www.indianguitarhero.6te.net" which is my actual url which my free web host company gave me. The problem is that, Google is not indexing my ".in" domain, but only the "6te.net" domain which my free hosting gave me. And also, once a user enters into the ".in" domain, then it shows the ".6te.net" url only. (eg. it shows like "www.example.6te.net/folder/" but i want it to be like "www.example.in/folder/".Hope u understood my question. Please help me. Thanx a lot in advance. :)
